SHORT TRAINING WALK
Robert was delighted to be able to do his first training walk in almost three weeks. Just a short six kilometres along the Thames Path. His stent is to be removed this coming week and then hopefully it will be a return to training with full packs until we leave for Spain on May 10th.

STARTING DATE POSTPONED
As some of you may know Robert is recovering from a small operation to remove a very painful kidney stone. We had hoped that despite this setback we would still be able to start our walk as planned on the 28th April. However he has now been notified that he needs to go back to hospital on that precise date to undergo a minor procedure.
Consequently we have decided to postpone the starting date to give him time to recover properly. We now leave for Spain on 10th May and we hope to start the walk shortly after that.
We will keep you updated on any further developments.

UPDATE
We have now finalised our planning for the daily stages of our two month adventure.
Our thanks to the President and staff of the Amigos del Camino de Santiago de Alicante for their help in sorting this out. Some of the normal stages were too long for us so we have had to split these up to more manageable levels. This is easy to do, what is more difficult is ensuring there is somewhere to sleep at the end of each day!
There is still one day when we arrive in Almonacid de Toledo, where there is nowhere at all to spend the night. One of our friends, who spends time working in Madrid, has offered to drive from Madrid to collect us and take us to Toledo, and then take us back to Almonacid the day after! Failing this we are hoping to take a bus, subject to arrival times, bus timetable.........etc!.
As you can see from our itinerary, the walk is planned to take 54 days. We are however allowing an extra six rest days, which should also cater for any minor injuries etc. All being well we should arrive in Cape Finisterre on or around 28 June.
Just over two weeks to go!
